Grind U/ICS Summer Camps 2022

Grind U 3D Basketball Camp

Grind U will be running a Basketball Camp focused on improving a player’s ability to shoot the basketball both inside and out and play lockdown defense. The camp will focus on mastering shooting mechanics, shooting the basketball from a variety locations on the floor (post to past three point line), shooting different types of shots (catch and shoot, off of cutting, off the dribble, and more) and gaining confidence as a shooter. Defensively, we will focus on each players technique both on and off the ball, taking away the strengths of their opponent, becoming a better athlete (strength, speed, quickness), and increasing their intensity and communication on the defensive end.

We will use small-sided games (1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3) and other skills competitions to apply the skills players learn in our individual skill work. For games and skills, players will be placed into groups based on grade and ability to create competitive balance and allow all players to succeed and gain confidence.

ICS Co-Ed Basketball Camp

Indian Creek Varsity Girls Basketball Coach Casey Corkin will guide campers as they focus on mastering basketball fundamentals. This camp will teach advanced skills, while creating a fun and competitive environment for boys and girls to grow as players. We will emphasize the Indian Creek Girls Basketball Pillars “CREEK” (Community, Respect, Empathy, Excellence, and Key) to each camper and teach them much more than basketball skills. Our goal is for boys and girls to gain more confidence in themselves both on and off of the basketball court.

Grind U 3D Basketball Camp

NBA Skills Challenges and Combine Drills

Players will compete against each other in various NBA Skills Challenges (Hot Shot Shooting, Ball Handling Obstacle Course, 3-Point Shootout, and more). Players will take part in NBA Combine drills, just like players being evaluated for the NBA Draft. These results will be combined with a thorough player evaluation given to highlight what they do well and what they can work on to improve.

Skills Stations/Film Breakdown

There will be plenty of skills stations that most players are used to at every camp. The skills stations will cover many different skills: ball handling, passing, shooting, defense, and more. We will incorporate the app HomeCourt into parts of skill stations as well. There will be short film sessions on different skills and every player’s shot will be taped and broken down for what they can work on.

Elite Game Competitions

There will be plenty of games being played throughout the camp. Everyday will have 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 games, that will commence with a tournament on the last day to determine a Championship team. In addition, there will be daily competitions (1 on 1, 2 on 2, etc.). Grind U believes that players improve the most when they can apply new skills learned in competition formats.

FUN Game Like Competitions

There will be plenty of game like competitions throughout this camp. We will focus more on players having fun and less on the ultra competitive type games that will be seen more in the Elite Middle School Boys Camp. Games will still include 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 formats throughout the camp. We will include many fun games that many players start out playing when they first pickup a basketball.

“One of the best things we can do for our kids mental health during a pandemic is to provide them with a place to safely have fun and socialize with their friends.”
